Get Training

Want to get trained and certified in disaster response?

The International Code Council offers the When Disaster Strikes Institute, which provides hands-on instruction on assessing damage through activities, case studies and interactive simulations that walk participants through various disaster scenarios. The institute stimulates discussion between participants and describes how paperwork should be completed. A wide variety of other valuable training is available at the Code Council’s Learning Center. Information on exams and other requirements for Code Council certifications are available at the Code Council's Assessment Center.

The California Office of Emergency Services Safety Assessment Program (CALOES SAP) training is also offered around the country and is coordinated by CALOES.

The Applied Technology Council (ATC) provides the ATC-20 and ATC-45 standards, forms and field guides to conduct post disaster safety assessments. They also offer training on these topics.
